Rising Stars of Research Photoshoot
Led photoshoots with University of Arizona researchers who are becoming rising stars within their respective fields, highlighting the people and projects that are paving the way for a brighter future. The marketing and communications team created a web and social media campaign around this project complete with interviews, written content and a graphic identity. These photos were meant to be very personality focused and show the research in their day to day. Many of these photos were taken during active interviews and most of the posing was natural. Equipment for this shoot was kept minimal for ease of transportation around campus and included a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV with an ultrasonic 24-70 mm lens as well as portable LED lighting and hand held reflectors/diffusers.
Women of Impact Headshots
The Women of Impact campaign is a part of an annual award ceremony that highlights individuals whose work drives discovery, fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, builds community impact, and empowers others. This was the first year we did in person photoshoots with the awardees as previous years awardees had sent headshots. We used a branded backdrop, two LED lights and a clamshell light reflector/diffusor to fill shadows. 25 headshots were taken and 6 had to be digitally composed onto the backdrop from provided headshots. These were used for across campus promotion of the event as well as at the award ceremony.
2024 Spring Research Spotlight Magazine
The magazine 'Research in Focus: Agriculture & Food Security' was developed by the University of Arizona Office of Research & Partnerships to highlight the increasing importance of research within a rapidly drying climate which threatens food, water, and agricultural systems around the globe. I was tasked with capturing photographs of some of the people on the front lines of this issue for their articles. This brought me out to a variety of settings from the campus farm to their offices. Each environment provided its own challenges and opportunities and they allowed for some great shots.
2024 Women of Impact Award Ceremony
The Women of Impact annual award ceremony highlights individuals whose work drives discovery, fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, builds community impact, and empowers others. The celebration of these individuals was grand with a local mariachi band performance (including a Young Woman of Impact) and the Tucson community coming together. I did my best to capture the spirit of the event and was able to get individual photos of all the honorees as well as group photos.
Admiral Caudle Visit and Tour of the Grand Challenges Research Building
Admiral Daryl Lane Caudle is a United States Navy admiral serving as the 35th commander of the United States Fleet Forces Command since 2021. I was tasked with shadowing his tour of the new research building on campus to capture his discussions with leadership and faculty as they display the state of the art facilities that allow the university to be a leader in national defense. No use of external lighting sources and minimal posing to capture genuine interactions.
Grand Challenges Research Building Opening Event
This was the first public event in which the University of Arizona community could tour the state of the art facilities within the Grand Challenges Research Building. Participants were split into tour groups to then meet with student researchers and faculty members to learn about the research being done. Both establishing shots and detail photography were expected with the ribbon cutting being the most important shots to get.
